Come and join us for a rare concert  from Canterbury’s home grown  folk superstar Luke Jackson with his Trio – Connor Downs and Andy Sharps on Percussion and Bass.  The venue for this is the stylish Lounge at the Canterbury Christ Church University, Student Union building in St Georges Place, Canterbury.  This centrally located venue has excellently priced drinks and a cosy Boston Bar type vibe. Perfect for our (almost) end of season gathering.

Luke needs no introduction to most of the Folk in the Barn audience having virtually grown up on stage in front of them over the past six years.

But in case you haven’t yet heard, Luke is a young Roots singer/songwriter from Canterbury, Kent.  2013 saw him nominated for both the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award. 2014 saw the release of his second album Fumes and Faith with his launch gig at Cecil Sharp House followed by concert and festival bookings all across the country.

With a bold, show stopping voice and honed guitar skills, Luke is a confident and captivating performer demonstrating an astonishing maturity. He has been making ripples on the live acoustic scene supporting such luminaries as Show of Hands, Paul Brady, Chris Wood, Steve Knightley, Karine Polwart and Oysterband.

Connor Downs and Andy Sharps are both excellent young musicians.  They met Luke when they were all studying music together at Canterbury College and have  played and recorded together many times.  Last year Andy accompanied Luke on his first tour of Scotland, and will  join him again on his forthcoming trip.
