County Derry born Cara has risen to become one of the finest exponents of traditional Irish song anywhere in the world.

Described by Q Magazine as "quite possibly the world's most beautiful female voice", her talent has been lauded since her very beginnings, winning the All Ireland singing trophy aged only 14. Together with her husband and musical partner, Sam Lakeman, (brother of Seth) she has successfully steered an eclectic musical path defying the typical pigeonholes that hinder most artists in her genre. Celebrated for entwining traditional and contemporary elements she has earned both commercial success and astonishing critical acclaim.

Her reach is truly global with fans to be found all over the world with her clear, Northern Irish voice even seducing giants such as Disney who, in 2010, asked her to sing the title song to the animated movie “Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue”. She’s won countless awards and accolades including “Album Of The Year” at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, The Meteor Music Award for “Best Irish Female”, and Tatler’s “Woman Of The Year in Music” and has appeared in prestigeous concert halls and at festivals the world over.

This is Cara and Sam's long overdue third visit to Folk in the Barn.  Cara has one of our most favourite female voices - and the band are something else!

We are very please to announce that opening for Cara Dillon will be local duo Radigun.

Radigun are a lively duo featuring Ben Insall on guitar and Nicola Lyons on fiddle.

Ben Insall grew up in a family with Irish roots and was taken along to Irish and Clog dancing at Primary school. As well as picking up the mandolin, he was inspired by people like Kris Drever and Ed Boyd to take up playing acoustic guitar once more. Cutting his teeth playing with Maidstone based folk rockers ’Wheeler Street’, he has performed at festivals and venues around the UK. After moving to Canterbury in 2010 he joined progressive-chamber-folk group ‘Arlet’.

Nicola Lyons is the wonderful fiddle player from ferocious folk foursome 4Square.  Nicola began her playing career with Fosbrooks in Stockport, spent three years as part of a duo with accordionist and pianist, Jamie Schofield and has also appeared as a dancer with the Demon Barbers.

In 2009,after an astounding 80 minute set and encore before an audience of 20,000 people, 4Square went on to sell every last one of their debut album, becoming The Cropredy Convention’s 2nd biggest selling band of all time!
