Now in their  50th year on the road, Fairport Convention, the originators of British folk-rock music, remain one of the most talented and best loved Bands on the circuit.

Their regular Spring Tour Is always popular as it allows the Band to play some of the Country’s most interesting and intimate venues and to present their repertoire in a more acoustic style.

This concert will be a mix of songs from their latest album Myths and Heroes as well as both popular and lesser known songs from their extensive back catalogue.

Fairport Convention features Simon Nicol on guitar and lead vocals, Dave Pegg on bass and backing vocals, Chris Leslie on fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki and lead vocals, Ric Sanders on violin and Gerry Conway on percussion.

Fairport has won a coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and the band was recently the subject of a major music documentary on BBC Four television. Radio 2 listeners voted Fairport’s groundbreaking album Liege & Lief  'The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time';

Fairport Convention are Folk in the Barn favourites  Not only are they are the nicest bunch you could ever meet, but we are in awe of their music and history and loyal legions of fans who don’t miss a chance to support them at every opportunity, including at their wonderful Cropredy Festival in August each year.   This will be their tenth visit to Folk in the Barn, but their first visit to the beautiful Whitstable Playhouse.
