Multi-instrumentalist Benji Kirkpatrick is best known as a key member of folk big band Bellowhead, who play to ever growing audiences in the UK and abroad, appeared twice on ‘Later’ with Jools Holland, and picked up numerous awards including Best Group and best live band (for the 5th time) at the BBC Folk Awards.  Benji picks his way up and down the frets of various stringed instruments, including guitar, bouzouki, mandolin and banjo. He is also a fine solo singer and a songwriter and has released three solo albums to date. His performances have been described as ‘powerful’, ‘memorable’, and characterised with ‘infectious dynamism’. Benji is also a member of the reformed Faustus and has been a member of the Seth Lakeman band since 2009, performing on Seth’s first three albums.  We at Folk in the Barn love Benji’s funky folk style and are looking forward to him playing for us for the first time, in the cosy setting of the Black Robin Inn.

If you like Seth Lakeman, Jim Moray, Megson etc - you'll love Benji....

“…a memorably aggressive bouzouki style…Powerful…” – Mojo

“Boomerang is a contemporary folk singer/songwriter album that does almost everything right; a dynamic and varied range of songs, great musicians and instrumentation and an accessibility that makes it instantly enjoyable. Very highly recommended.” Fish Records

“A terrific third album from Benji, brilliantly capturing the infectious dynamism which characterises both his solo and band gigs.” Bright Young Folk
