Tenth Anniversary Party with special guests Arlet, Brendan Power, Alister Atkin and.... ? SOLD OUT!

Saturday 6th April 2013

The Kingston Barn, Kingston nr Canterbury

Tickets £10  (to cover costs only)

You are all invited to come and help us celebrate the first ten years of Folk in the Barn.
What started out as a crazy idea, to put on one band has turned into something extraordinary with a life of it’s own, and it wouldn’t have happened without the support and enthusiasm of you all.  The wonderful people who buy the tickets and come along and support live folk and acoustic music. We’re so grateful and would like a chance to celebrate it together with you all.  You are welcome, whether you’ve been coming for years and years, or just discovered us, but numbers are limited so first come first served.

We have some amazing live music planned, but it will be more informal than a usual Folk in the Barn sit down concert (if that’s possible)  There will still be seating available for those who require it. But we’re hoping to see some dancing too.

As well as live music there will be a  buffet and a bar and it will a lovely chance for everyone to relax and get to know each other better and share in our celebration.

Tickets are subsidised for this event as it is not a profit making event therefore they are only £10 each which covers the costs only.

Artists playing….

A founding musical inspiration is a love of the joyful melodicism and rhythmic intensity of British Folk, but rather than viewing folk traditions as artefacts to be revered, Arlet have drawn on folk idioms as a route to their own brand of carefully sculpted, richly harmonic and lusciously textured music. ‘Very different and very beautiful music’

Brendan Power
UK-based New Zealander Brendan Power is acknowledged by many as one of the most creative, skilled & versatile harmonica players around today. Equally at ease on both the earthy Blues Harp as well as the sophisticated Chromatic Harmonica, he tunes them to his own scales to create a highly original style.

Alister Atkin
"I love Alister Atkin's debut CD - songwriting and singing of world class order. I reckon his song 'Tom' will become a modern classic."
- Mike Harding

And maybe a few surprises…??

Really hope you can make it ….
