About Event

5 years ago we decided to mark the end of the Folk in the Barn Summer Season with an outdoor Garden Concert, and they have all been wonderful occasions and grown in popularity.  There’s nothing quite like sitting back and listening to beautiful music in the Summer air.

We’ve been very lucky with the weather every time, but this year we have decided to move the event somewhere that offers a wet weather alternative should we need it, our luck can’t last forever.   This new location provides a beautiful lawn with the backdrop of the North Downs, but is also slightly more accessible with facilities close by and plenty of easy parking.

Please bring a picnic and your own comfy garden chairs if you wish to, though Village Hall seating will be available.  There will be facilities for hot drinks, and of course as usual we’ll provide a glass of Pimms, ….and some stunning music.

Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage

''Arrestingly beautiful' ★★★★★ Songlines

Since emerging in 2016, Hannah & Ben have been defying all conventions of style, genre and compartmentalisation. A touch of ‘Americana’, yet quintessentially English. Traditional, yet contemporary, with their individual writing style. Playful and instinctive, they make music with such panache and natural chemistry it makes perfect sense.

Those that attended the Fairport Convention WinTour back in February will have witnessed first-hand the superb talent and wonderful charms of this duo as Hannah & Ben were chosen by the band to support them for the whole 5 week tour.  They were beyond fantastic, winning many new friends across the country and within the band. I never tired of hearing them every night and miss them terribly since the tour ended.

Hannah Sanders has an alluring mystique and a voice of disarming purity that massages your senses. Ben Savage is a singular guitarist with a sound as distinctive as it is innovative. Together their harmonies and unique stage presence shimmer with an infectious enthusiasm and joy for the connection music offers.

The material is as joyful and fun as it is intense, but the common factor is the duo’s warmth and confidence in each other; their natural ease and connection is clearly evident on the recorded music, and a genuine pleasure to witness on stage.

They are also really entertaining.  Hannah tells wonderful stories of growing up on the road with her folk-singing family – and surviving!   They have rapidly become one of my very top favourite acts to see.

An exquisite soundscape, which is the result of passion, precision and unbridled intimacy’  ★★★★★ R2 Magazine

‘This is folk music for everyone – a master-class in proficiency, an exercise in individuality and a declaration of love of the folk tradition from both sides of the  Atlantic’ ★★★★★ Spiral Earth

'A stream of brilliant music - they should be rated among the elite when it comes to UK folk' Maverick

'I've loved Hannah Sanders' voice since first listen and Ben Savage is a master musician. they are both deep in to the soul of their music. I think this album is the best thing they've done.'  Mike Harding Folk Show
