The Phil Beer Trio 2023

In a brand-new format for 2023 multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer will be joined by exquisite singer and bass player Miranda Sykes, solo performer, and frequent collaborator with Show of Hands. Completing the line-up is highly accomplished drummer, Siân Monaghan.

While Phil and Miranda need no introduction to our audience, Siân is probably a new name.  After developing a love for percussion at a young age, Siân began with an orchestral background but soon threw herself into a variety of styles and found herself playing big band jazz at the Montreux Jazz Festival at the age of just 17. Having recently won Americana Association UK’s respected ‘Instrumentalist of the Year Award 2020’, Finsbury Park drum teacher Siân is well known for working across styles with a range of artists. Such artists include Jessie Buckley, Stick in the Wheel, She Drew the Gun, China Crisis, The Wandering Hearts and Derek Forbes (Simple Minds).

Siân holds a BA (Hons) from the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. With a ‘folky’ Dad, Siân is no stranger to the folk (and blues) world, she also plays a mean mandolin and guitar.

The Phil Beer Trio promises an exciting evening of combined talent & musicianship not to be missed!

In a brand new venue for Folk in the Barn. Petham Village Hall is a stylish and perfect setting for Acoustic Music.  Set in beautiful countryside, easily accessed off Stone Street near Canterbury. Plenty of Free Parking too, which these days is a bonus.
